George Will Argues That Reversing Citizens United Would Destroy The Bill Of Rights

This op-ed by George Will, who is the designated conservative on many TV shows, and one of the reigning "intellectuals" on the Washington Post, whose op-eds are widely syndicated across the US, is so far over the top that I had to  post it.

The argument that he makes, using misleading rhetorical devices, is that reversing the Citizens United decision by the Supreme Court, which enables unlimited political contributions by corporations, would destroy the Bill Of Rights in the US Constitution.  He gives many examples of the treacherous things that government would be able to do if that were to happen.  My simple response to his false claims, is that none of the horrors that he reports happened in our entire history prior to the Supreme Courts decision.  Why should they suddenly emerge if Congress took actions to restore the limits on corporate contributions to campaigns?

I also had to laugh at his use of an editorial, in the conservative National Review, to validate a claim that academia and the media are dominated by liberals.  I don't intend to enter into that debate., even though his articles are nationally syndicated. My point is that an editorial in the National Review, or elsewhere, does not validate anything. It is simply the opinion of National Review editors.
