Six Term GOP Senator From Indiana Challenged In Primary Campaign

The GOP primary campaign in Indiana may cost six term GOP Senator Richard Lugar his Senate seat.  It could also cause the GOP to lose the seat in the general election to the Democratic challenger.  That does not seem to worry Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman and Grover Norquist who support Lugar's challenger.  The challenger's campaign is devoid of ideas.  It is focused on Lugar's record of bipartisanship.  In particular, Lugar is being criticized for working on an important national security bill with Obama when he was in the Senate.  Lugar is labled as Obama's favorite senator. Among republican's in Indiana, that might be enough to disqualify their six term senator.  The attack ad that is used to attach Lugar to Obama is typical of the new GOP.  It takes one sentence, out of context, that provides a misleading impression of the bill that he and Obama passed which made America more secure from nuclear attack.

This is a good example of the new GOP.  Any politician who works on a bipartisan bill that is good for the nation will be attacked.  They do not acknowledge the legitimacy of the other political party. The focus in on demonizing the opposition party and its leaders. Their goal is a one party political system.
