The GOP senator from Maine, Olympia Snowe, announced that she would not run for reelection. She has found it difficult to do her job as a moderate in an increasingly partisan party. For some strange reason, Dana Millbank has used Snowe's announcement as a reason for an article about a democratic senator who has complained that he has not enjoyed his work in the Senate either.
In other words, the issue of growing partisanship in the GOP has been shifted to that of growing partisanship in the Senate. He then lists several conservative democrats who have also announced decisions not to run for reelection. The democrats and the republicans are equally guilty of partisanship.
