The State of the Race to the Bottom in the GOP

This editorial aptly describes the most able GOP candidates for the presidency of the US. Since the race to the bottom has evolved into a battle between Rick Perry and Mitt Romney, it is primarily about the qualities that make Perry appealing to the no nothing, hate everything, Tea Party, and to Texan's who miss John Wayne. Mitt Romney's biggest problem is that he did a pretty good job as the Governor of Massachusetts and he has to convince the Tea Party that he won't try to govern in the public interest if they put him in the White House. Its a sad commentary on the state of politics in America when one of our major parties has to search for the candidate least qualified to lead our country. Perhaps this is their version of affirmative action.
