How To Save The Euro

This article by George Soros describes the evolution of the European Union. He believes that it is a nobel undertaking but that it was not organized in a way that enabled it to deal with its current problems. He thinks that the political leaders who are responsible for saving the eurozone do not have a good understanding of how financial markets work. Moreover, they are constrained by an inadequate treaty that should be regarded as a stepping stone to a more integrated economic union. He proposes a plan that has the elements of what is required to preserve the union. Even if his proposal is not accepted, he provides a good description of how the union evolved as well as its flaws.
