How the Assumptions of Economic Theory Shape Understanding of Research Findings

Naked Capitalism picks up on the Stiglitz article posted below and shows how difficult it is for economists to come to the conclusions that are needed to deal with the sources of income inequality. It refers to research which quantifies the costs to many Americans that are a consequence of hyper-globaiization. The author cannot reach the obvious conclusions without being drummed out of the profession because of assumptions about free trade and welfare that are part of the gospel.
