How To Identify An Incompetent Reporter

Ronald Reagan asked American's if they were better off after four years of Democrats in the White House in his successful presidential campaign.  Mitt Romney' campaign has been asking the same question.  Three of the Sunday TV news shows picked up on the question.  Apparently, they think that it needs an answer from Democrats.  Dean Baker argues that asking that question is like asking someone who had a fire in their home if they were better off after it was put out by the fire fighters. We suffered the deepest recession since the Great Depression when Obama took office.  It doesn't make anymore sense to blame Obama for the slow recovery than it does to blame the fire fighters for not restoring the house to its original condition when they put out the fire. Is there any reason to believe that we would be better off today if McCain had been elected President?  We can't know the answer to that question, but I would bet that McCain and the GOP would not have been focused on cutting budget deficits.
