Don't Cry for Argentina

link here to article

Dean Baker wonders why the NYT article on Argentina claims that its economy has been stagnant. He then provides data which shows that its economy has been growing faster that most other countries in the world. He has no explanation for such poor reporting from the paper of record in the US.

Paul Krugman here provided his explanation. He suggested that the reporter simply reported what was supposed to happen in Argentina. It defaulted on its debt several years ago and deviated from the Washington Consensus on how to run its economy. The economy should be stagnant so why bother looking at data?
