This article describes how the victory gained by the Tea Party populists came at the expense of most Americans. It suggests that it may spur the development of a new populism that is broader based than the Tea Party and more aligned with the expectations of most Americans.
This article raises a good question. That is, can we fashion a new populism? In order to accomplish that we need a better understanding of how the Tea Party was organized and funded by those who benefit from the exploitation of the rank and file members of the Tea Party. Any new populist movement will be up against a well funded shadow Tea Party that is really its opposition.
