Job Loss and Unemployment Rates Under Bush and Obama

This graph tells the story that Obama will be telling during the presidential campaign. He inherited a bad economy which resulted from the policies of the Bush administration. Job loss under Bush was greater than it has been in his administration. It will be harder for him to explain why unemployment has remained high. The GOP will point to V shaped recoveries in the past and blame him for not doing the same. Its hard to explain why recessions from financial crises take longer to fix.
