Was Japan's Lost Decade Really Lost?

This article shows that the ways in which we measure a country's progress determine the outcome. Japan has seen it housing bubble and stock bubble return to pre-bubble levels but there are many ways in which it has made progress compared to the US and Europe. What we learn from this article that arbitrary measures of performance are available and that Japan may have been subjected to their use. It does done much better than the US on some very important measures of well being. Westerners may also have a bias about Japan's system of capitalism. It shows that capitalism is a made system and that there is nothing natural about. American's like their system of capitalism better than every other country;s version, and Japan's is even more different than other systems that have been socially determined.
