The financial crisis in Europe has created
opportunities for American banks and financial firms. European banks are required to meet new regulations which will require them to hold more capital against their assets. It is anticipated that they will need to unload $3 trillion of assets, many of which are in the US. The credit squeeze in Europe has also made it more difficult for businesses in Europe to maintain the credit flow needed to run their businesses. US buyout firms are scooping some of them up as well.
