Microsoft Takes $6.2 Billion Charge For Failed Acquisition

Microsoft has written off its investment in aQuantitative.  It had hoped that the online advertising firm would close the gap between it and Google in the online ad market.    Their Ask search engine has also failed to make a dent in Google's share of the search engine market.  They hope that its large investment in Skype will work out better than their other acquisitions.

Its interesting that conservatives scream when government makes a bad bet on a technology company, but they have nothing to say when private businesses take huge losses on acquisitions, or when JP Morgan takes a multibillion dollar loss on a trade.
