Why The Eurozone Might Survive
This article, by the author of the definitive book on the role of the gold standard in the Great Depression. Explains why the common currency does not suffer from the same problems that made the gold standard the "cross of gold" in the Great Depression. He offers several reasons that support the survival of the common currency. His only caveat is that the medicine that has been prescribed by the physicians in charge of the eurozone has been harmful to the patient. He does not believe that the recent political changes in Greece, France and The Netherlands will be sufficient to change to diagnosis made by the physicians in charge of policy.
